FAST TRACK PROGRAMME MATRIKULASI PULAU PINANG - II
HI AND SALAM ALA'IK.
Alhamdulillah i am gladly to announce this as my very first entry. so my entry this time will be about my experience in matriculation college. before we step up, i will briefly tell you that matriculation is one of the programme you take before you enter local university. it is known as one of the fast-track programme same as foundation but both of these still have differences.
praise to Allah, i got matriculation offer after SPM. My college is in Penang and I am from Terengganu so it definitely was a long way of journey. But i made it to the end! A great achievement for me after my SPM result and i was really in a cloud nine that time.

to make my entry short, i will go straight to the important part which is about the matriculation programme itself.
or to be more specific- what are you going to learn, your schedule, classes and entire and so on.
so the purpose of I doing this entry is to enlighten my juniors about this track. i have so far seen that students are still confuse of what track they have to choose after finishing their SPM. Some choose foundation, other choose diploma and the rest choose matriculation.
as I was in this track before, I only can share with you about matriculation. But if you want to know about another tracks, maybe you can click the link below:
what are students going to learn in matriculation college ?
simple one!
there are 4 modules overall. Three for science stream students and one for account stream student.

YES, i do not know much about account module since i was in science module when i was there. But for what i know (got this information from my account friend) you schedule is much lighter that science students'. basically you have no lab activities because all you have to do is playing with your lovely calculator that's it ! HAHA. for science stream students, you are going to be divided into three groups aka three modules:
first and all, module 1 consists of 4 subjects - mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biology. yes, you will learn all of them and must get A for all of them. This module is the toughest one in matric as students have all four hardcore subjects they have to struggle. and most of non muslim students will be in this module. you will see how smart they are and the way they struggle. ching ching! Other than that, this is the group which lecturers would call as the excellent students ( basically because you take all the four subject
i would like to remind you that in order to assort you into what modules, they must be referring to your SPM results. if your results for physics and biology are slightly different or in the same grade, you must be classified into this module for sure!

second, module 2 which is called as physics module. as usual you will have mathematics and chemistry but you dont have to take biology. you will have physics and computer science instead. for those who wanted to continue in engineering field or something related to physics, this module will be your best choice. boys monopolize this module for sure, no doubt! but if you girls are still willing to be in that kind of field, like i have stated above, you are freely to be in this module.
third, module 3 or known as biology module. you still have mathematics and chemistry but you would not learn physics anymore because your focus is for biology and computer science. if physics module is monopolized by the boys, then i must say this group have the girls as their major students. but dont get shocked if you see boys in your lab classes or what because whatever module you are in, your goals are all same- to get places in universities.
other that this core subject, all student will still have to take curriculum classes, dinamika, agama and english classes as well. you will basically are going to enjoy all this classes for sure so do not worry much!
so what is so special of being matriculation student?

little did you know that, if you enter matriculation programme, you are half way into university. by means, you are in pre-university level. so you just have to finish your one hell-year in matriculation and walla! you are welcomed into university for sure. Next, you will get monthly allowance for RM250 per month. i am sure this can ease you and your family in controlling your budget there. bear in mind that matriculation is a bit different with foundation. as matriculation have two study modes which is program satu tahun (PST) and program dua tahun (PDT). I actually do not know how the sort us into these two modes but yeah as long as your result is good you will be in PST. just like me hehe.
oh before i forget, we will have MUET exam in our last semester there so you can let your hair down first. so you will be taught in English class how to do listening test, writing test, speaking test for MUET.
For accomodation, you will stay in their college for the rest of your matriculation year. so you do not have to worry of where to sleep and so on. furthermore, you can go outing during weekends as you do not want to stay and hibernate in your room for sure. My advice is going to be please go and have fun with your friend if you have time. usually matric students will hang out with the whole practicum mate before they graduate-yeah for a memory to be kept from 1 year in matriculation. i will 100 percent sure you will miss the moment you were in matric after you enter degree.
